Callan Fields

Sometimes the mountain is just a dark shape . Sometimes it disappears entirely in mist and cloud . But mostly it's in a half-state , maybe like this , with the top disappearing , but with the contour of the field-divisions becoming visible as the eye comes down to the tumescent drumlins below .Up North ,Antrim farmers say they look like eggs in a basket , but to me they look , with their crowns of trees , like a submarine surfacing through the mist with a raggy crew on deck .
